Do not use detergents, polishes or air fresheners to clean the clear bin.
Do not put the clear bin in a dishwasher.
Do not put the filter in a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave or near a naked flame.
Beware of sharp objects when checking for blockages.

Step 1: Remove the Bin
Fully push the red bin release lever away from the handle of the machine. Press and hold the red catch on the underside of the bin and slide the bin off the machine. Use a damp cloth to clean the clear bin if necessary.

Step 2: Use Dusting Brush
Using the dusting brush that comes with your Dyson V1, gently remove lint and dust. You should never immerse the cyclone unit in water or pour water into the cyclones.

Step 3: Cleaning the Clear Bin
You should only use a damp cloth to clean the inside. Make sure it is not too wet, and gently wipe the interior as best you can.

Wash the outside of the filter unit. Fill unit with cold water, hold one of your hands over the top, and shake gently. Repeat both processes until water runs clear. Gently tap filter to remove excess moisture before you dry it out.

Step 3: Drying the Filter
Leave unit to dry in the open (and facing up) for 24 hours or until completely dry

Step 4: Refitting the Filter
Ensure filter is completely dry before you refit it. To refit, return filter unit to the open position and twist clockwise until it clicks into place.

Step 1: Removing the Soft Roller
Disconnect the soft roller floor tool from the wand by pressing the release button.

Step 2: Unlocking the End Cap
Flip the soft roller upside down so that you can see the underside. After that, take a coin and unlock the fastener which is marked with a padlock symbol.

Step 3: Removing the Brush Bar
Rotate the end cap to the open position, and then gently slide the brush bar away from the floorhead before removing the end cap.

Step 4: Washing the Brush Bar
While holding the brush bar under cool running water, gently rub it to remove any lint and debris.

Step 5: Drying the Brush Bar
Leave the brush to dry for at least 24 hours standing upright. It should be noted that the drying process can take longer.

Step 6: Refitting the End Cap
Reattach the end cap to the brush bar once it is completely dry.

Step 7: Refitting the Brush Bar
Now, slide the brush bar back into the floor tool and around the motor with the end cap in the open position. Once it is in place, rotate the end cap back into the closed position. You can do this using a coin to turn it clockwise, and afterwards, you should ensure the baseplate and brush bar are secure.

Step 1: Removing the Clear Bin
To release the dust canister from the cyclone, simply hold the machine by the handle and pull the red lever back. Lift it upwards to release the cyclone, and continue until the base of the bin opens fully. After this, press the red bin release catch and remove it with care.

Step 2: Cleaning the Bin
Only use a damp cloth to clean the bin, and ensure that it is not too wet. Use it to gently remove dirt from the interior of the clear canister.

Step 3: Cleaning the Shroud
Take the combination tool and click the dusting brush in place. You can then use it to remove lint and dust from the machine, but never immerse the cyclone in water or pour water into the cyclones themselves.

Step 4: Refit the Bin
Ensure the clear bin is completely dry before replacing. To replace the clear bin, push the clear bin up and into the main body of the machine, allowing it to click into place.

Step 5: Refit the Cyclone
Align the runners on the cyclone with the slots on the main body before sliding it down until it clicks into place. Once this is done, close the bin base, allowing it to click, and completing the process.

Washing the Dyson V8 Pre-Filter

Step 1: Removing the Filter
Once the vacuum has been disconnected from the charging point, you can remove the filter by lifting it out of the top of the machine. Be careful not to press the trigger while you are doing so as this will turn the vacuum on.

Step 2: Washing the Filter
Wash the outside of the filter by holding it under cold running water until it is clear. Once this is done, squeeze and twist the filter with both hands to remove excess water.

Step 3: Drying the Filter
Place the filter on its side and leave it to dry for a minimum of 24 hours, or until completely dry. It is important to note that it could take two days to dry fully.

Step 4: Replacing the Filter
Place the dry filter back into the top of the machine and make sure that it is sealed properly.

Step 1: Removing the Filter
Ensure the machine is disconnected from the charger before removing the filter. Be careful not to pull the trigger as this will turn the vacuum on. To remove the filter, twist anticlockwise to the open position, and pull away from the machine.

Step 2: Washing the Filter
Wash the inside of the filter with cold water, and ensure that it is running. Rotate the filter as you do so, ensuring all the pleats are covered. Then, gently tap the filter against the side of the sink to remove debris and excess water. Repeat the process until the filter is clean.

Step 3: Drying the Filter
Place the filter in an upright position and leave to dry for at least 24 hours, although the process may take longer.

Step 4 - Replacing the Filter
Once the filter is completely dry, return it to the open position and twist it clockwise until you hear it click into place.

First, disconnect the motorised floor tool from the wand by pressing the release button.

Once the end cap is in the open position, gently slide the large brush bar away from the cleaner head, then remove the cap.

Lift the small burhs bar out of the octagonal end. Following this, move it out and away from the floor tool.

Gently rub the brush bars under cold running water to remove any dirt or lint that has become caught in the bristles.

Step 6: Drying the Brush Bar
Stand each of the brush bars upright and leave them both to dry for at least 24 hours, although the process can take longer to complete.

Step 7: Refitting the Small Brush Bar
Once they are completely dry, it is important that you replace the small brush bar before the large one. Insert the round end of the bar into place, and then push down the octagonal end until it clicks.

Step 8: Refitting the End Cap
At this point, you can reattach the end cap.

Step 9: Refitting the Large Brush Bar
Slide the large brush bar back onto the floor tool while the end cap is in the open position. Once it is in place, rotate the end cap back into the closed position.

Step 10: Locking the End Cap
Using the coin, fasten the end cap by turning it clockwise and ensure that it is fully turned. Check that the baseplate and brush bar is secure, and then place the floorhead back onto the wand.

Rotate the end cap to the open position, and then gently slide the brush bar away from the floorhead. You can then remove the end cap.
